New Student Info

Welcome to Ruby Blue Dance Studio!

We’re so excited to have you join us this year!

Here are a few important things to know as we kick off the upcoming dance season:

Drop off/ Pick up
We do not require parents to stay during class but you are more than welcome to wait in the lobby. Please be respectful and keep conversations at a low volume. For Bennington parking: Avoid parking in front of the martial arts doors unless we know they do not have class on your dance night. Parking is allowed on the street and on the gravel behind the building. Arlington parking: You may park in any open space on the street. Please check signs to make sure you do not park in front of someones garage.

What to Wear

• Leotard & Tights: Dancers may wear leotards and tights in any color. One-piece leotards are preferred.
• Optional Add-Ons: Dance skirts, spandex shorts, or leggings (worn over a leotard) are all allowed.

Shoes
• Ballet: Pink ballet shoes for all dancers.
• Tap: Black tap shoes with buckles or ties.
• Jazz/Hip Hop and Pom: Tan jazz boots.
• Hip Hop only: Clean sneakers only worn at dance.
• Acro Classes: No shoes required. Tights must be footless for safety and mobility.
• Lyrical Classes: Lyrical half shoe.

You can find these items at Walmart, Target, Payless, Bobby’s Dancewear, or Amazon.

Hair
Hair should be tied back neatly and kept out of the dancer’s face for all classes.

Where to buy dance shoes and clothes
Bobby's Dancewear in Omaha, Walmart/Target often have attire but be careful that you don't buy "dress up/play" ballet shoes. Real ballet
shoes are leather or canvas. Amazon is a popular way to purchase but I recommend ordering multiple sizes of shoes. Parents tell us often about how many pairs they ordered before they found ones that fit.
